Psychomotricity on giant chessboard

This project was born with the aim of making children constantly protagonists and progressively aware of their sensory-motor skills, through play and the use of an active intelligence. This motor experience takes place in a privileged and protected space, the chessboard, and becomes a magical experience, a bridge between reality and imagination, mixing game and awareness in respect for oneself and for the other, to know oneself and enter into a relationship with others in a fair, responsible and cooperative way.
Children in a playful form learn to take care and control of the body, of its expressive possibilities and of relationship through movement, and with it they become aware and acquire the perception of their physical self.
The quality and awareness of the movements, in fact, influence the entire range of psychological resources of the child: the ability to communicate, to perceive and solve problems, his recognition as an individual, provide him with the indispensable tools to interact successfully with others.
The games and activities proposed consolidate self-confidence and allow children to test, through the sensorial and perceptive experience, the potentials and limits of their physicality, the risks of uncontrolled movements, the different sensations given by the varying postures, the pleasure of coordinating activities with those of others in a harmonious and fun way.
The project aims to develop gradually in the child:
The ability to read, understand and interpret messages from one’s own body, from that of the other and respect them both.
The ability to express oneself and communicate through it in order to improve its perceptual capacities.
The ability to orientate in space and time, to know different rhythms and experience them.
The ability to read coordinates.
Through the proposed games, acquiring more psychomotor skills and experiencing the success of their actions, will:
Progressively expand your experience enriching it with new ideas.
Increase the level of gratification.
Incentive self-esteem.
Experience victory or defeat.
Learn to know, express and contain your emotions.
The participation of the class group in its entirety also provides the opportunity to share the various experiences, promoting the insertion of pupils with various forms of diversity and enhancing the value of cooperation and teamwork to achieve common goals. All this with the intent of recognizing and enforcing the various individualities that can become an added value and not an obstacle to the dynamics of the group.
The various proposals also aim to promote the value of respect for the rules during the game and collectively, rules presented by the tenant but also shared with the children.
